Winamp Remote

A Widget for controlling Winamp, a popular media player. Uses COM to plug into Winamp, please be advised that it registers a COM object at the first run, DO NOT run on guest accounts for the first time only.

Compatible with Winamp 3 and above, however, for complete functionality Winamp 5 is recommended.

Call me a cynic, but I just don't see the point. You can skin Winamp to make it look just like this widget, and control it with hotkeys, and it will work exactly the same. Winamp also has those features that people keep requesting already built into it (Media Library, Playlist Editor, etc.). And it already has...you know...controls.

I'm not bashing the widget, I'm just not sure why you'd bother.

do i necessarily need to run winamp if i want to use this widget? wats the COM thing? does this COM thing allows me to play with this widget without running winamp at the same time?

Hey, can you help me? I'm looking to do something similar, only I want to write a sort of bridge so I can use COM in the widget to access a COM interface I make which will in turn access the Windows API.

OK, sorry for that previous comment - just turn off announcing song titles and everything works fine :)

A good one - nice design and overall impresion. It's not true that it requires winamp 3 and above. It works fine with winamp 2.9x. I do have a problem with it, however. It seems to change the volume in winamp from time to time to a very low value when switching to next song. You could fix that ;)
