I love this widget! I've recommended it to a bunch of people at work already. :) But please...give us 16x16!!! I need it to work the 16x16's that my coworker brings me from the newspaper (already filled in by him). I hope little Jimmy gets better soon! ;)

Sorry about that, there was a second bug in the random generator (it was returning numbers greater than one). Release 2.0.2 is in the approval process now, so the problem should be fixed (fingers crossed) soon.

I had some trouble with 2.0 and downloaded 2.0.1 hoping this problem would be solved. Sometimes when I click "NEW" I get the message to be patient ... and then it never puts up a new puzzle. Clicking the red reset button doesn't help. Clicking NEW again doesn't help. Clicking HINT gives me the message: You're on your own.

I love this solver except for this quirk.

The puzzle generator was imported from a Java program by Rolf Sandberg. There is discussion of it at http://magictour.free.fr/sudoku.htm , but it is too deep for me to follow. The numerical rating is a process of the generator and is a total mystery to me.
It has been described by someone who knows a whole lot more than me like this: "The rating is just the number of placements in the algorithm which should be
almost proportional to the running time."
I arbitrarily divided the range of… numbers into the four groups with no basis in fact. After trying to solve several puzzles, however, it looks to me that a rating of "extreme", (and maybe some of the higher numbered "hard"), cannot be solved without guessing. More
