Mail Candy

Small, discreet, and oh so sweet!

This is a simple in-box monitoring Widget that works with Mac OS X Mail. The candy shows gray when there are no unread messages. The candy changes color (and optionally pulsates) when new messages arrive.

To move the Widget, hold down the command key while dragging.

Click the Mail icon inside the Widget to bring the Mail application to the front. Move the mouse over the candy to see a tool-tip showing the number of unread messages. Use the preferences … More

Oops, I should have mentioned in the README that Apple uses the name "Inbox", even though Mail shows "In". So check the box to watch all folders and put "Inbox" (without the quotes) in the box and you should be good to go. Thanks for pointing that out!

I have a new version in testing that lets you list specific folders to _include_; it also pulsates (optionally) on new messages. Email me at the address in the About box if you'd like to try to new version before it is posted to the gallery.

Very nice. I like the color scheme to tell you that there's a message.

And, I like to know when I have mail only from specific people. That mail goes into a different folder. But when I check the top box in preferences to make the widget watch for other folders and place "In" in the box below that to make the widget not tell me about mail in the inbox it still tells me when I have mail in the inbox. Anyway to have the widget just tell you when you have mail in a folder other than the "In" folder?
