I am not sure why my changes didn't make it into the description, but here is the important information:

1) The widget has been updated to be fully compliant with Konfabulator 4.5
2) The calculation section has been modified to fix Javascript internal numeric representation problems. You should not see display anomalies anymore.

Try the following on any calculator widget:
80.57 - 30 = -50.57 =
The answer should be 0. However, due to Javascript number handling you will get a very small numb…er (i.e. -7.1 x 10-15 or some such). Try this on Kalc. You will get the correct answer without having to round.

If you need accuracy in your calculator widget, you need Kalc.

Your idea might be just fine to show just the title bar and the numeric display, as long as you could still use keyboard input when the widget is in focus. If you can't use the keyboard for input with just the title and number display, you might just as well show a title bar only, with an icon to change views.

Suggestion: In order to toggle between the 3 different views (scientific, number pad, and minimal), maybe you could add an additional up-down triangle next to the one that&#…39;s there. One would point up, the other down. If in scientific view, the down triangle would be "greyed out". You could click the up triangle once, to get to number pad view (at which point, both the up and down triangles would be active, allowing clicking up or down), and then click the up triangle once again to get to the minimal view. At that point, the up triangle would become "greyed out", leaving only the down triangle to reverse the view process. I h More

Thanks for the positive comments. I will consider adding your request. If I understand it correctly you want a title and the numeric output display only. Therefore, a person would be forced to gain focus of the widget and use the keyboard for all input.

There is not a bug in the calculator, there is an inaccuracy in the JavaScript calculations (or any other language for that matter) based on representing numbers in floating point notation. I know that this does not make much difference to the average user.

Try this: Using any other Konfabulator calculator that you have downloaded, put in the sequence 80.57 - 30 = -30.57 =
All will show a very small number -7.1xxxx e-15. This is simply unavoidable based on the fact t…hat JavaScript returns those values for that calculation.

So, in summary: I appreciate the kind words of those offering constructive criticism, but be aware that all JavaScript calculations will have this type of "error". --Darrel More
