Jenerator

Are you learning Japanese? Then this Widget is for you. The Jenerator displays one entry at a time from the EDICT dictionary, helping you to memorise all these Kanji step by step.

Included is a small selection of Jim Breen's EDICT file, suitable for beginners. You can use your own dictionary file as well, should work fine with Chinese, Korean or almost any other language. Instructions are included in the widget.

A great widget. I'm interested in using this to learn korean though. So I'm just wondering what sort of dictionary files are used. If anyone can put me on the right track that'd be great.

Why aren't my Japanese characters displayed in my comments? Anyway, I was referring to "Gyokushyou".

Hi Joerg, the entry you're referring to reads "? (???), (abbr) king (shogi)" and is correct, because it's an abbreviation for ?? (??????), which is the King in the game of Shogi.

Hi David,
great widget and I'm enjoying it very much!! But the vocabulary entry "gyoku" or "tama" (玉）doesn't mean <King>, instead it means <Jewel>,or <Gem> or <Pearl> or basically round like objects. The kanji for King is 王.
