Jenerator

by David C. Zentgraf

Are you learning Japanese? Then this Widget is for you. The Jenerator displays one entry at a time from the EDICT dictionary, helping you to memorise all these Kanji step by step.

Included is a small selection of Jim Breen's EDICT file, suitable for beginners. You can use your own dictionary file as well, should work fine with Chinese, Korean or almost any other language. Instructions are included in the widget.

[Windows users: You'll need to have support for east-Asian languages installed. (Control Panel : Regional and Language Options : Languages)]

Very nice widget! It is so nice that it comes to the foreground when the word changes.

I would reccommend a button to manually change the word (such as just clicking on the widget, or a hotkey).

Design is beautiful and it is helpful for people of both languages!

I tried to install the Eastern Languages into my Computer but it says I need to use a CD called "Windows XP Home Edition" or something like that, but I don't have the CD. According to the message, I can't see Japanese characters withought the CD! Can someone help me please? I really want to try this Widget. :'(

This is a great widget but I'm having the same problem as Hakan. Everytime it updates it steals focus which is really annoying. I didn't use to have this problem so I'm not sure why it started. Anyone have any tips?

Well, I appreciate for the fact there is a widget that is compatible for Windows. I've been looking all over for it! (≧ワ≦)Ъ

Anyway, I would suggest a on-yomi and kun-yomi reading for each Kanji. :D Romaji isn't necessary because it's pointless if you know hiragana/ひらがな and katakana/カタカナ.
Also, I would also suggest a widget similar to Mac's kanji-a-day widget which has the JLPT1-4 kanjis. *nod*

Until then, keep up the good work~♪
Hoping to see an improvement of this widget though. It looks promising.
