DropMover

The DropMover Widget displays a keypad, which can be used to move or copy files and folders to specified folders, or to open applications, data files and web pages.
Each key of the keypad can have a destination folder, application file, data file or url associated with it. Files or folders dropped onto the key are moved or copied to the destination folder or passed to the associated application.

MerlinVersion 3.0 has an extensive logging to file capability which you can set up and turn on in the "Errors" preference pane. This would almost certainly reveal the problem. My current guess is that your Office apps have a .EXE extension in upper case, whereas the Widget expects .exe. I'll put up a version that ignores the case of the extensions in the next few minutes (at the same tinyurl link).

Merlin - thanks for the quick response :-) It's a shame that data files dropped onto Windows application keys just open the files in the default app. This greatly diminishes the utility of that aspect of DropMover, because I can achieve the same outcome just by double-clicking on the file. The new version (reads as v3.0 on the "about" dialog) still does not accept Office apps. When you check the "Allow Drop Action" box - I get the "not an application" message. … More

Drop Action Problems in Version 2.8
MerlinScotty: Thank you for your report. There is a bug in version 2.8 that prevents some drop actions from taking place. I have submitted an update. However, because the updating of the Gallery is very infrequent at present, I have also placed the update at http://tinyurl.com/29fm3c . Sorry - should have said that I am using DropMover 2.8. Also, when I create a "link to folder" button (by alt-click), then I can open that folder by double-clicking on the DropMover button -- but dropping a file on there does nothing that I can see (the file is neither moved nor copied to the target folder).
