George - The Widget should be updating the date immediately when the machine is awaken from sleep. This has been an intermittent issue that I've seen but haven't had a fix for it so far.

Now that I think about it, though, there may be one. If my thinking is correct, the machine may not be updating the current time until a few moments after it's woken up, which would mean that the Widget is getting the old date before the system updates. That's the best I can come up with. If… I ever get around to finishing up the new version, I'll make sure to put in an experimental fix.

If the fix doesn't work, then the bug is in the Widget Engine. More

If my PC is in Standby Mode from 10pm to 8am, the date still shows the previous date. Running XP home edition. Is there a fix for this?

That's for the update check, but it should fail gracefully if it can't connect to the server.

This widget exits with a message saying "can't open Desk Calendar" if you don't have an Internet connection when you start the Widget Engine. Why? It can't look to the computer's system date and open and then check for the Internet date later? Seems uneccessary to exit. To reopen it, you have to dig into the My Widgets folder, double-click it, yada, yada.

I can't open it !!!! :-(
